For Adult Beginners

Have You Always Wanted to Play Piano?

For many adults, learning piano has been on their mind for years. Maybe you took lessons as a child, always wondering what it would be like to come back to it as an adult. Or, maybe you’re starting completely from scratch and wondering:

Am I too old? Will I have time? What if I’m not musical enough?

You’re not too old. You don’t need prior experience. You don’t have to practice for hours on end. And you don’t need any special talent, either.

As an adult beginner, you already bring something of value to lessons: curiosity, life experience, and a passion to learn a new skill for pure enjoyment. Wherever you are — complete beginner or returning student — we’ll start where you are and build from there.

What You’ll Build

Learn More Than Just the Notes

My goal is to help you become a confident, capable pianist — one who understands what you are playing, not simply memorizing pieces.

Read Music with Confidence

Learn to recognize notes, rhythms, patterns, and musical markings. Reading music becomes more natural over time.

Build Proper Technique

Developing healthy playing habits from the start means your hands will move with greater ease and control, avoiding pain in fingers or forearms.

Understand Music Theory

Learn how and why music works the way it does. Theory is like building blocks — you add a few new concepts every lesson in a natural flow and order.

Special Attention to Bass Clef

For most pianists, reading and playing the left hand feels especially challenging. We’ll give it focused attention so you become comfortable reading with each hand equally, as well as coordinating them together. That’s where the magic begins.

How Lessons Feel

Structured Learning in a Relaxed Atmosphere

Structured lessons for adult beginners don’t have to feel intimidating.

We’ll work together toward clear music goals, all the while leaving plenty of room to ask questions, repeat concepts, or slow things down. We can work through challenges together. My teaching style is warm, patient, encouraging, and organized.

You won’t be expected to know something before you’ve been taught it. You won’t be expected to get everything right the first time.

One skill at a time = Progress!
